Affogato is one of my favorite desserts. It's simple stuff, just vanilla ice cream topped with espresso. This week's New York features a round-up of some of the city's best versions (between that and their coverage of my crush from afar on The General Greene, clearly some sort of Vulcan mind meld has taken place between myself and the Underground Gourmets. Also, do you think Rob Patronite's full name is Robin? I really want that to be the case) but they did not mention Bar Stuzzichini. True, their affogato has slipped of late--the pastry it was paired with on a recent visit was not as transcendent as when they first opened--but I remain a fan.
